ABOUT ME

Lavanya Creations - was born from a seed of an idea when I stumbled on a little shop when we were living in the Far East, 25 years ago.. Everything in the shop was handmade, hand crafted from natural materials that exuded authenticity and charm. I still have some of my purchases today, although the lovely hammock finally succumbed to the British weather! The name Lavanya struck a chord.... The love of jewellery and all things sparkly started with a story book about 'Aladdin' that my grandmother gave me when I was a child. The image of the treasure laden cave with all the colour and twinkle is firmly etched on my memory. The final piece of this puzzle was a visit to the Egyptian museum (Medelhavsmuseet) in Stockholm when I was 6. I came away with a fascination for all things Egyptian and was magnetised by their beautiful handmade jewellery. I loved the concept that these fabulous pieces were created using very humble and ancient tools. These memories combined with a natural creative streak have culminated in my own creations today. I wanted to create jewellery that can be worn everyday or for a special occasion alike. simple, elegant and unfussy. Each piece is handmade and thus completely unique, no one item is identical to another. Costs are kept as low as possible in order to allow the individual to own something precious without costing the earth. The precious metals used are 9ct yellow gold or 0.925 sterling silver. Nothing is rolled, plated or flled .... Everything is created with love, recyclable and created with as minimal an impact on our planet as possible.
